Felix Shao
My name is Felix, and I’m a freshman at Wesleyan with an undecided major, but I’m especially interested in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry for a potential pre-med path, as well as a minor in Data Analysis. I’m passionate about improving patient experiences in healthcare, not just through medical advancements but also by exploring alternative therapies like music and color psychology. I also had the opportunity to shadow in a research lab at a University, where I studied cardiomyocyte regeneration, in other words, heart self-healing. While the topic was fascinating, I realized that lab work wasn’t for me since most of my time was spent repeatedly pipetting chemicals rather than engaging in hands-on problem-solving. About, tech experiences, I once joined a program where I learned how to use Python to build neural network models for English accent recognition—it could distinguish between Indian, British, and Chinese accents. It was a lot of fun. This is also my first time taking a psychology class, and I’m really excited to explore something that connects so closely to everyday life.
