George Fox University, Oregon (DATA490 Data Analytics Capstone Project Research)
These Capstone Projects are the culmination of Cohort 446 successful completion of the Data Analytics Degree Program at George Fox Digital in Newberg, OR. Each project represents empirical studies to solve a workplace or other business problem utilizing prescriptive or descriptive analysis to answer their research questions applying methodologies from the Passion-Driven Statistics E-book by Lisa Dierker, PhD. The criteria was for each student to establish a null and alternative hypothesis, complete a literature review, EDA, select a government or open dataset, use a data model, perform a statistical test to establish the strength of relationships between dependent and independent variables (regression analysis, heat map), and report their findings utilizing a high-level language (Python, SQL et. al) or a BI tool to create visualizations then finalized in a narrated PowerPoint presentation supported by details in a written paper. Approval was required for the selected business problem where students submitted a formal proposal with these criteria.
